Recognizing God's Purpose

Today's Word "So Joseph recognized his brothers, but they did not recognize him. Then Joseph remembered the dreams which he had dreamed about them, and said to them, 'You are spies! You have come to see the nakedness of the land!'" — Genesis 42:8-9 (NKJV) Thoughts on Today's Word  Joseph’s journey from being betrayed by his brothers to becoming a ruler in Egypt was filled with hardship, yet God’s purpose was being fulfilled. When Joseph saw his brothers, he remembered the dreams God had given him years earlier. At that moment, he realized that everything—his suffering, separation, and rise to power—was all part of God's divine plan. Often, we go through trials without understanding why. Like Joseph, we may feel forgotten or unfairly treated. But in time, God’s purpose is revealed. What once seemed like pain can become a stepping stone to a greater calling. Today, trust that even in difficulties, God is working behind the scenes for your good. Prayer of the...

Embracing the New

Today's Word:

“And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins.” — Mark 2:22 (NIV)

Thoughts on Today's Word:

In this verse, Jesus teaches about the necessity of embracing the new. The “new wine” represents the new life and teachings He brings, while the “old wineskins” symbolize the outdated structures, traditions, and mindsets that cannot contain the fresh work of God. Just as new wine requires new wineskins, our hearts and minds must be ready and open to the changes God wants to bring in our lives.

Many times, we find ourselves clinging to old habits, thought patterns, or even relationships that no longer align with the new direction God is taking us. This can hinder growth and make it difficult for us to fully experience what God is doing now. We must be willing to release the old and allow God to pour newness into our lives—whether it’s through a renewed perspective, opportunities, or spiritual growth.

Take a moment today to ask yourself: What old “wineskins” am I holding on to? In what areas is God asking me to embrace the new? As we let go of the old and trust God for the new, He will fill us with fresh blessings, strength, and purpose.

Prayer of the Day

Lord, thank You for the newness You bring into my life each day. Help me to let go of the old habits, mindsets, and ways that no longer serve Your purpose. Open my heart to the fresh work You want to do in me. Give me the strength and willingness to embrace Your new wine with joy and expectancy. May I be a vessel ready to carry Your blessings. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
