Recognizing God's Purpose

Today's Word "So Joseph recognized his brothers, but they did not recognize him. Then Joseph remembered the dreams which he had dreamed about them, and said to them, 'You are spies! You have come to see the nakedness of the land!'" — Genesis 42:8-9 (NKJV) Thoughts on Today's Word  Joseph’s journey from being betrayed by his brothers to becoming a ruler in Egypt was filled with hardship, yet God’s purpose was being fulfilled. When Joseph saw his brothers, he remembered the dreams God had given him years earlier. At that moment, he realized that everything—his suffering, separation, and rise to power—was all part of God's divine plan. Often, we go through trials without understanding why. A Double Portion of Faith

Today's Word:

“When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, ‘Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?’ Elisha replied, ‘Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit.’” – 2 Kings 2:9

Thoughts on Today's Word:

Elisha’s bold request for a double portion of Elijah’s spirit reflects his desire to carry on the prophetic mission with even greater power and faithfulness. Elisha wasn’t seeking personal glory but was asking for the spiritual strength to fulfill God’s calling on his life.

This passage challenges us to ask: Are we bold in our prayers and our desire to serve God? Like Elisha, we can trust God for the strength and resources to accomplish His purposes. When we seek His power, not for ourselves but to glorify Him, He will equip us for the work ahead.

Prayer of the Day:

Dear Lord, Thank You for calling me to serve You. I ask for a double portion of faith, strength, and wisdom to fulfill Your purposes in my life. Help me to walk boldly in obedience and to trust that You will equip me for every good work. May my life glorify You and bless others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflection:

What are you asking God for today? Are your prayers bold and focused on His kingdom? Take time to seek His will and trust Him to empower you for the work He has called you to do.
