Recognizing God's Purpose

Today's Word "So Joseph recognized his brothers, but they did not recognize him. Then Joseph remembered the dreams which he had dreamed about them, and said to them, 'You are spies! You have come to see the nakedness of the land!'" — Genesis 42:8-9 (NKJV) Thoughts on Today's Word  Joseph’s journey from being betrayed by his brothers to becoming a ruler in Egypt was filled with hardship, yet God’s purpose was being fulfilled. When Joseph saw his brothers, he remembered the dreams God had given him years earlier. At that moment, he realized that everything—his suffering, separation, and rise to power—was all part of God's divine plan. Often, we go through trials without understanding why. Like Joseph, we may feel forgotten or unfairly treated. But in time, God’s purpose is revealed. What once seemed like pain can become a stepping stone to a greater calling. In the Hands of the Lord

Today's Word:

“The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord; He directs it like a watercourse wherever He pleases.” – Proverbs 21:1

Thoughts for Today's Word:

In a world filled with uncertainty, it is comforting to know that God holds ultimate authority over all things. Proverbs 21:1 reminds us that even the hearts of kings—those in positions of great power—are under God’s control. Like streams of water that can be directed to nourish or transform, God sovereignly guides the events of this world for His purposes.

This truth is both humbling and reassuring. It humbles us because it reminds us that no earthly power is beyond God's reach. It reassures us because, even when we face leaders or situations that seem unjust or overwhelming, we can trust that God’s hand is at work.

Today, let this verse encourage you to pray for those in authority, trusting that God can move their hearts. But more personally, consider how willing you are to place your own heart in His hands. Are you resisting His guidance, or are you allowing Him to direct your path? Trust that His plans are always for your good and His glory.

Prayer of the Day

Sovereign Lord, Thank You for the reminder that You hold all things in Your hands, including the hearts of those in authority. I trust in Your wisdom and sovereignty over my life and the world around me. Guide the leaders in my life to make decisions that honor You, and teach me to surrender my own heart to Your will. Help me to walk in faith, knowing that You are always in control. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
