Recognizing God's Purpose

Today's Word "So Joseph recognized his brothers, but they did not recognize him. Then Joseph remembered the dreams which he had dreamed about them, and said to them, 'You are spies! You have come to see the nakedness of the land!'" — Genesis 42:8-9 (NKJV) Thoughts on Today's Word  Joseph’s journey from being betrayed by his brothers to becoming a ruler in Egypt was filled with hardship, yet God’s purpose was being fulfilled. When Joseph saw his brothers, he remembered the dreams God had given him years earlier. At that moment, he realized that everything—his suffering, separation, and rise to power—was all part of God's divine plan. Often, we go through trials without understanding why. Like Joseph, we may feel forgotten or unfairly treated. But in time, God’s purpose is revealed. What once seemed like pain can become a stepping stone to a greater calling. Living Beyond Offense

Today's Word:

“Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come.’” – Luke 17:1

Thoughts on Today's Word:

Offenses are inevitable in life. Jesus acknowledges this reality, reminding His disciples that stumbling blocks will come. Whether through misunderstandings, hurtful actions, or difficult circumstances, we all face moments where we feel offended or are tempted to cause offense.

While we cannot control others’ actions, we can choose how to respond. When offenses come, do we cling to bitterness, or do we let go and extend grace? Likewise, we are called to live carefully, ensuring our words and actions don’t lead others astray or cause unnecessary pain.

This verse challenges us to examine our hearts: Are we easily offended? Are we causing others to stumble through carelessness or unkindness? Jesus calls us to rise above the inevitability of offense by walking in love, forgiveness, and humility. By keeping our eyes on Him, we can overcome the traps of bitterness and become peacemakers in a world full of conflict.

Prayer of the Day

Dear Lord, Thank You for Your grace and patience with me. Help me to respond with love and forgiveness when offenses come my way. Guard my heart against bitterness and teach me to live in a way that honors You. Help me to speak and act with kindness, so I don’t cause others to stumble. Thank You for being my example of forgiveness and love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
