Recognizing God's Purpose

Today's Word "So Joseph recognized his brothers, but they did not recognize him. Then Joseph remembered the dreams which he had dreamed about them, and said to them, 'You are spies! You have come to see the nakedness of the land!'" — Genesis 42:8-9 (NKJV) Thoughts on Today's Word  Joseph’s journey from being betrayed by his brothers to becoming a ruler in Egypt was filled with hardship, yet God’s purpose was being fulfilled. When Joseph saw his brothers, he remembered the dreams God had given him years earlier. At that moment, he realized that everything—his suffering, separation, and rise to power—was all part of God's divine plan. Often, we go through trials without understanding why. Today's Word :

"Pharaoh said, ‘Who is the Lord, that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? I do not know the Lord, and moreover, I will not let Israel go.’" — Exodus 5:2 (ESV)

Thoughts on Today's Word:

Pharaoh’s response to Moses reveals a hardened heart that refuses to acknowledge God’s authority. His question, “Who is the Lord?”, was not just ignorance but defiance. Many today also reject God’s authority, questioning His existence or dismissing His commands.

Yet, as the story unfolds, God reveals Himself through mighty acts, proving that He is the Lord over all. Pharaoh’s pride led to his downfall, but for those who humble themselves before God, there is freedom and blessing. The question we must ask ourselves is: Do we recognize the Lord and submit to His will, or do we resist Him like Pharaoh?

Prayer of the Day:

Heavenly Father, open my eyes to know You more deeply. Soften my heart so that I will not resist Your voice. Help me to obey You willingly, trusting that Your ways lead to life and freedom. May I never question Your authority but instead walk humbly in Your truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflection:

Are there areas in your life where you resist God’s authority? How can you surrender more fully to Him today?
