Recognizing God's Purpose

Today's Word "So Joseph recognized his brothers, but they did not recognize him. Then Joseph remembered the dreams which he had dreamed about them, and said to them, 'You are spies! You have come to see the nakedness of the land!'" — Genesis 42:8-9 (NKJV) Thoughts on Today's Word  Joseph’s journey from being betrayed by his brothers to becoming a ruler in Egypt was filled with hardship, yet God’s purpose was being fulfilled. When Joseph saw his brothers, he remembered the dreams God had given him years earlier. At that moment, he realized that everything—his suffering, separation, and rise to power—was all part of God's divine plan. Often, we go through trials without understanding why. Like Joseph, we may feel forgotten or unfairly treated. But in time, God’s purpose is revealed. What once seemed like pain can become a stepping stone to a greater calling. Strength to Withstand

Today's Word:

"And though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he refused to go to bed with her or even be with her." — Genesis 39:10 (NIV)

Thoughts on Today's Word:

Joseph was a young man with a bright future, yet he faced persistent temptation from Potiphar’s wife. Day after day, she tried to lure him into sin, but Joseph remained steadfast in his commitment to God. He didn’t just resist her advances—he also made a conscious effort to avoid being around her altogether.

Temptation often comes in subtle and persistent ways. The enemy doesn’t always attack in obvious ways but instead wears us down over time. Like Joseph, we must make a firm decision in advance to honor God. Sometimes, the best way to resist temptation is to remove ourselves from the situation entirely.

Prayer of the Day:

Lord, help me to stand firm against temptation, just as Joseph did. Give me the strength to say no when sin tries to pull me in and the wisdom to avoid situations that could lead me astray. Fill my heart with a deep desire to honor You in every choice I make. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflection:

Are there areas in your life where temptation is persistent? What steps can you take to guard your heart and stay faithful to God today?
